Privacy Policy

Effective Date: October 17, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Shibashi, operated by the legal business Lucas Brand Łukasz Dmowski ("we", "us", "our", or "Service"), collects, uses, and protects information in connection with your use of the Shibashi mobile application for iOS and Android and the website located at shibashiapp.com. We are committed to protecting user privacy and operating under a strict data-minimization model.

1. Information We Collect & Process

Depending on how you use Shibashi, we process the following categories of information:

  • Account & Authentication Information: When you create an optional account or start a free trial using Sign in with Google, Sign in with Apple, or Email/Password, we process your email address and a unique authentication user ID via Google Firebase Authentication to authenticate your session and link your study access across devices.
  • Study Progress & Cloud Sync Data: Your flashcard review history, SRS intervals, mastery stages, review queues, custom preferences, and study statistics are stored locally on your device and, where applicable, backed up securely via Google Cloud Firestore or Apple iCloud so your progress stays protected.
  • Purchase & Subscription Data: In-app purchases and subscriptions ("Shibashi Pro") are processed directly by Apple (via the iOS App Store) or Google (via Google Play Billing). Subscription validation and entitlement verification are managed securely through RevenueCat using anonymous or account-linked app user IDs and purchase tokens. We do not collect, process, or store your credit card numbers, bank account details, or billing addresses.
  • Analytics, Diagnostics & Attribution Data: To measure app stability, understand feature usage, and evaluate the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns, we use Google Firebase Analytics and Meta App Events (Facebook SDK). Subject to your device permissions and platform privacy controls, these services may process pseudonymous device identifiers (such as App Instance ID or Advertising ID / AD_ID), basic device metadata (OS version, device model, country), app launch/trial/purchase events, and crash diagnostics.
  • Support Communications: If you voluntarily contact us via email at supportshibashiapp, we receive your email address, message content, and any attachments you provide solely for the purpose of answering your inquiry.

2. How We Use Information

We use the information described above exclusively for the following purposes:

  • To provide, maintain, synchronize, and support the core learning functionality of the Shibashi application.
  • To authenticate your account and verify your free trial or Shibashi Pro subscription entitlements across iOS, Android, and Web.
  • To measure aggregate app performance, diagnose crashes, and attribute app installs or trial conversions from our advertising campaigns.
  • To respond to customer support requests, technical inquiries, and account deletion requests.

3. Data Sharing & Third-Party Service Providers

We do NOT sell or rent your personal information to data brokers. We share limited data only with trusted infrastructure and service providers strictly necessary to operate and improve Shibashi:

  • Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Analytics): Used for secure account sign-in, cloud database storage, and aggregate usage telemetry (Firebase Privacy).
  • RevenueCat: Used for cross-platform subscription receipt validation and entitlement management (RevenueCat Privacy).
  • Meta Platforms (Facebook App Events / Pixel): Used solely for aggregated ad campaign conversion measurement and attribution (Meta Privacy). You can opt out of personalized ad tracking at any time in your iOS ("Allow Apps to Request to Track") or Android ("Opt out of Ads Personalization" / "Delete advertising ID") system settings.
  • Apple App Store & Google Play Store: Process all payment transactions and subscription billing directly under their respective privacy policies.

4. Data Storage & Security

All network communications between the Shibashi app, our website, and our cloud infrastructure are encrypted in transit using industry-standard Transport Layer Security (TLS/SSL), and cloud records are encrypted at rest. Local study data remains on your physical device until you clear app storage, uninstall the application, or delete your account.

5. Account & Data Deletion (How to Delete Your Account)

You have full control over your account and personal data and may delete your Shibashi account and all associated data at any time using either of the following methods:

  • Method 1 — Instant In-App Deletion: Open the Shibashi app, navigate to the Support (or Profile) tab in the bottom navigation bar, tap Delete Account, and confirm in the dialog. Your Firebase Authentication account, cloud-synced study records, and local study data are permanently deleted immediately.
  • Method 2 — Web / Email Deletion Request (Without Opening the App): If you have uninstalled the app or prefer to request deletion via the web, send an email to supportshibashiapp from the email address associated with your Shibashi account with the subject line "Delete My Shibashi Account". We will permanently delete your account credentials, email address, and all associated cloud records within 7 business days and send you a confirmation email once completed.
  • What Data Is Deleted vs. Retained: Deleting your account permanently erases your authentication profile (email address and user ID) and any cloud-stored study progress. Non-identifying, aggregated transaction receipts required by Apple App Store or Google Play Store for statutory tax, accounting, and fraud-prevention compliance are retained solely by the respective payment processor in accordance with applicable law. Note: Deleting your Shibashi account does not automatically cancel an active subscription billed through Apple or Google Play; please also cancel your subscription in your Apple ID or Google Play account settings if you have an active recurring plan.

6. Children's Privacy

Shibashi does not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at supportshibashiapp so we can delete it.

7. International Data Transfer & Your Privacy Rights (GDPR / CCPA)

Our operations comply with international data privacy regulations, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK GDPR, and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). Depending on your location, you have the right to access, correct, export, restrict processing of, or request erasure of your personal data by contacting us at supportshibashiapp.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect app updates or regulatory adjustments. Any updates will be posted on this page with a revised "Effective Date". Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Terms of Service (EULA)

Effective Date: October 17, 2026

Welcome to Shibashi. These Terms of Service ("Terms", "EULA", or "Agreement") govern your access to and use of the Shibashi mobile application for iOS and Android and website (shibashiapp.com), operated by Lucas Brand Łukasz Dmowski ("Developer", "Company", "we", "us", or "our").

By downloading, installing, or using Shibashi, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not install or use the Service.

1. End User License Grant

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable license to download, install, and execute Shibashi on a compatible iOS or Android device owned or controlled by you, or access the web application, solely for your personal, non-commercial educational use.

2. Shibashi Pro Subscriptions, Free Trials & Payments

  • Subscription Billing: Shibashi offers optional premium features ("Shibashi Pro") via auto-renewable subscriptions (Monthly or Annual) or one-time lifetime purchases. Payments are billed directly to your Apple ID Account (on iOS) or Google Play Account (on Android) upon purchase confirmation.
  • Automatic Renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew unless auto-renew is disabled at least 24 hours prior to the end of the current billing period. Your Apple ID or Google Play account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period at the rate of your selected plan.
  • Free Trial Terms: We may offer a free trial period (such as a 7-day free trial). On Android and Web, starting an account-based free trial requires no upfront payment and will not auto-charge you unless you explicitly purchase a subscription plan. For store-billed trial subscriptions, any unused portion of a free trial period will be forfeited when you purchase a subscription, and you may cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends to avoid being charged.
  • Subscription Management, Cancellations & Refunds: You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your device's Apple ID Account Settings (iOS) or Google Play Store → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions (Android). Uninstalling the app or deleting your Shibashi account does not automatically cancel an active store subscription. Refunds are processed by Apple or Google Play according to their respective store refund policies.
